Thread starter Donald Stone Start date Jan 2, One thing that I never got when I read LotR's is what exactly the relationship is between the 3 Elven communities.
At first I assumed Elrond was ruler of all the elves but that quickly didn't make sense. And while everyone seems pretty deferential to Galadriel she doesn't seem to be ruling anyone either. And the way the Lothloriens treated Legolas sure seems to infer that the 3 aren't exactly on the best of terms.
Is it basically 3 seperate 'states'? This is why Gandalf warns the group when they come to Murkwood, as the elfs of the wood are 'wilder' than those that Went West and then Returned. Validated User. All three are separate "realms", so to speak.
Rivendell has a lot of the Noldor still remaining in Middle-Earth, many of whom are refugees from the ruin of Eregion. There are plenty of Sindar and, probably, some wood elves there too. Celeborn himself went to dwell in Rivendell , whilst many of the other Elves likely moved to Thranduil 's Woodland Realm.
Galadriel bore Nenya on a ship from the Grey Havens into the West , accompanied by the other two Elven Rings and their bearers. She was buried on the hill of Cerin Amroth , where she and Aragorn had been betrothed. Other names given to the land include the Rohirric name Dwimordene from dwimor "phantom", an allusion to the perceived magic of the Elves , and the Westron name The Golden Wood. Radagast later arrived to the city with word from Gandalf that he has ascertained the Nine were released by the Necromancer and has entered Dol Guldur himself.
Galadriel summons the other members of the White Council to Dol Guldur and banishes Sauron, but is depleted of her power.
Elrond takes her back to Lorien where she is to remain. Shortly after the fall of Gandalf and the Balrog, the Fellowship led by Aragorn and fearing the pursuing Orcs, went to Lorien.
While travelling through Lorien, Gimli, overreacting, stated that an evil Elf queen ruled the forest and told the Hobbits to stay nearer to him. Meanwhile, Frodo saw a vision of her warning him that he brings great evil with him.
