L ow on perception — high on performance-This is the story of Kendriya Vidyalaya KV schools for the past several decades. Since its inception in , KV schools, formerly, popularly known as Central schools, has schools as on May 1, , spread across the length and breadth of India and also in three overseas countries.
The concept was, and still is, to provide educational facilities to the civilian and armed forces personnel on transferable duties. Inspite of a uniform code, syllabus and conformity to the CBSE, certain centres like Chennai and Bengaluru outshine others.

How do you view the accreditation standard for Quality school governance initiated by the Quality Council of India? Yes, there is further scope for improving our functioning and governance in the schools. In what areas do you think there is scope for improvement? It is too early to say as yet. Any step that we may take should not lead to any repercussions later on.

Do you foresee inordinate delay? No, I do not foresee a long delay. It is a question of buttressing the existing system. As you are aware, we have schools in every geographical area of the country where few venture out. We have to take into account those schools, located in hardship areas, topographically, their infrastructure, working conditions, creation of facilities deemed necessary and several such factors before we could say proudly that we are ready for accreditation.
We have to fulfil those criteria before the audit. Let me assure you, it will not be long.
